The day saw Myself Sensei William and Emma Officiating so we were unaware how our guys were doing, we left the coaching to Ryan & Raelea who did as you will see a dam fine job.
The Competition was pretty local so no need for a early start, we arrived around 9am for registration to be greeted by competitors queuing out of the door, the turnout was overwhelming, around 130 individuals taking part.
Team KSD took 22 Dojo members it was the first competition for most and the nerves started to kick in once they settled in and met the rest of our members.
Team KSD was made up with the following members, Emma, Realea, Ryan, Ashley, Becky, Chelsea, Katie, Lewis, Tom, Max, Jon, Olly, Freya, Claire, Caitlin, Teagan, Cameron, Hollie , Ruari, Jessica, Akar & Grant ages of team KSD were between 5 & 32 , all the guys spent six weeks putting in extra Dojo hours prior to the comp and it paid off .
I was waiting for my area to begin when our first team member Akar began in Kumite , Akar hasn’t been with KSD long and sadly didn’t progress , he did himself proud though going out to the winner of his category and winner of the Shido-Ryu Kumite competitor of the day ( No Shame there pal).
I was then called to begin my duties on Kata Area 1 so didn’t see much else in the morning, I was called to area 2 help judge Kumite while we took a break from Kata when I noticed on Area 3 KSD Olly winning gold in Kumite , I was proud as punch a KSD National Champion couldn’t ask more than that ( could I ?) .
Well no fear medal count was 10 Golds 2 Silver & 8 Bronze I couldn’t believe it Team KSD did themselves proud , those that didn’t medal are winners in our eyes as they got right behind those still competing remember the old saying there is no “ I “ In team , those that did medal are as follows.
Hollie Heckford Bronze, Max Boyes Bronze, Katie Shaw Bronze, Emma Keating 2 x Bronze, Raelea Morris 2 x Bronze, Grant Turner Silver, Becky Page Gold & Silver, Ashley Barber Gold & Bronze, Caitlin Mills Gold, Tom Mchardy Gold, Olly Millward Gold, Claire Bannister 2 x Gold , and performance and in my eyes national competitor of the Day Chelsea Boyes 3 x Gold.
We want to thank all those involved in hosting a successful competition and allowing KSD to be a part of it , the question being asked on our return to our Dojo is when’s the next one were doing those that didn’t take part are asking , awesome well done guys .
Sensei Daz

KSD are pleased to announce after a meeting with Julian & Sharon Mallalieu Sensei’s we have officially become members of Shido-Ryu Shukokai Karate organisation , we have been on the fringes as associate members/friends for some time , but we feel the time is right to commit, we have the same values and direction as the group and look forward to playing a active role within the group , we thank Sensei Julian for the opportunity and are looking forward to the next phase in our karate journey with likeminded karateka ,we have met most of the Shido Senior grades over the last 12 months , and look forward to meeting the rest and working together promoting Shido-Ryu Shukokai in the future .
We still remain members of the CMAA our national supporting Body and to the KSD students nothing changes.
Sensei.
Ksd recieved a request about monthly payments , we are pleased to announce we have now put this in place for those wanting it, opting for this payment method reduces your training subs hugely , students can pay by each lesson , weekly and now monthly .
KSD have a bank account , and for those wanting to pay by direct debit monthly can now start doing so , there is no pressure to do so , we have had issues with our old account set up when we opened the club as it was in the name of the old club name , this has now been corrected.
Sad news, it’s in no way a pleasure to announce that KSD assistant instructor Ryan Barber has decided to leave KSD , can I take the opportunity to wish Ryan good luck in his martial future, and thank him for the help building KSD up , I know I speak for all KSD members when I say he will be missed .
KSD take part in the Shido-Ryu Shukokai Referee's course , these courses will be every 3 weeks going forward to the National championships , on the day there will be assesments leading to a qualification
